Hi my name is Colin Spence let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a Positive reinforcement dog trainer and I've always had dogs in my life and from a very early age I knew I wanted to have a well-behaved sociable companion. I read and researched as much as I could I even stopped to ask dog owners questions, which drove my mother bonkers. By the time I was old enough to be responsible for my own dog is when things in the dog world started to take off for me. I had a German Shepherd called Bruno who was very nervous and aggressive with both humans and dogs, so in seeking out training classes and getting him socialised and teaching him that life can be fun and enjoyable I was able to help him become the dog I knew he was which was a joy to be with. Everyone loved him. I continued with classes and eventually started to help out as a trainee instructor under the guidance of Beverly Robinson, I even helped run the puppy classes.
After that I became more involved with the novice obedience classes and attended various courses run by John Hunter. I am now 54 but feel 20 and take pride in my work. I have worked with many clients and their dogs dealing with issues from pulling on the lead to dog-on-dog aggression and many more issues. Whether it be training or behavioural I am the biggest advocate of being kind to all animals and only use positive reinforcement methods whether it be food, toys or touch as these methods get the best results.
I also help the Blue Cross giving talks in schools to children about being safe around dogs, I assist with puppy parties for Companion Care Vets giving advice on many topics from toilet training, recall, separation anxiety and many other issues. I have Public Liability Insurance and I am fully insured with Pet Sanctuary as well as being DBS/CRB checked. So no matter what your issue(s) may be or what breed you may have, all are individuals and all are welcome at Colin's K9 Training Services where I will find the right methods of training to suit you and your beloved companion.
* I do not use or encourage the use of choke chains, E collars, prong collars or equipment that will bring harm to your best friend, nor will I teach you methods that are now out-dated or harmful to either you or your companion. I have obtained my diplomas from the International Schools of Correspondence in Dog Obedience, Canine Behaviour and Breed requirements and gained my Diploma in canine psychology & Behaviour with The International School for Canine Psychology and behaviour (ISCP).
